WHS bug report: item x is on hold for transactions in sales order on site y. Update has been canceled --> able to pick, but cannot put.

As a warehouse worker I do not want to start picking work for an item that is on hold for sales so that on the put to the outbound location I get an error that the item cannot be picked. I would not allow the release and/or creation of work for this item. This situation most likely occurs when an item is not on hold, the item is on an sales order and then released to the warehouse. Then the item is set on hold. However, the work is then created and thus the worker cannot finish. The work around is that the hold is taken off the item and then the picking can be closed by that user (other users cannot stop the transaction since it remains in progress..other bug). Then use the 'reduce picked quantity' and/or decrement the load. Reported this bug in the feedback of Microsoft and asked our partner for a hotfix:

Reference customer with EP Sales Order module

We are trying to sell AX an EP Sales Order solution to a customer, but they are asking for some references customers, and Microsoft was not able to point us to anyone using it.

So I am wondering if anyone here knows of someone using it, that we might be able to use as a reference?

AX SSRS report timing out

Came across very interesting problem today. Custom built SSRS report is timing out after 10 minutes(using default timeout value on AOS), whereas the same report ran as batch completes in less then 20 seconds.

Any explanation why this would happen? Is there any difference in the way interactive and batch SSRS reports are processed?

Warehouse Mobile Device Portal - Not reflecting changes

Hi,

I have made changes in WhsWorkExecuteDisplayPOItemReceiving class (USR layer) to convert PO Number free text item to a combo box with Lookup.

It reflects the changes when I open the screen through AX client (warehouse management --> work process) but when I open it through Mobile portal, it doesn't reflects the changes and PO Number is still free text item.

1. How can I verify which layer mobile portal is accessing and what setup to be done to reflect changes in mobile portal?

Purchase Requisition Number Sequence

Hi guys,

I want to set up the number sequence of Purchase Requisition (PR) but i don't know where the form/field to input the number sequence for PR. 

such as e.g I set the number sequence for PO and I put it in "Procurement & Sourcing Parameter" menu

On-account invoice number sequence

I found that there is number sequence called "on-account invoice" in project management parameter.

However, after i did created on-account invoice, the system still used the number sequence from "invoice".

In what situation will the system uses the on-account invoice number sequence then?

Individual Project ID number sequences for different users/user groups

Hello, I wonder if anyone can offer advice please.

I am currently using AX4, and am implementing the Project module for the first time, however for future proofing, I am trying to investigate If its possible to have individual Project ID number sequences for different users/user groups.

For example, multiple Departments work within the same company in AX, and we are currently implementing the Project module for a Department called PFE. However, there is possibly a requirement in the future to also implement it for a Department called PME, and I wondered if the Project number sequence can be created based on user groups?

I.E - PFE would have Project IDs of say 'PFEPJ00001' and PME would have Project IDs of PMEPJ00001?

Hope someone can offer some advice.

Which tables to truncate to free some space on my test server?

We have a AX 2012 Test environment that contains everything , Application , SQL, Report Server 

and we are reaching a point where size is an issue and we can't increase harddisk size

are there any log tables , or event logs that i can truncate from SQL to free some space, data that is irrelevant for now , since this is only a test environment  

without affecting AX functionality

recurring free text invoice - server did not provide meaningful reply

Hi experts,

I have set up recurring free text invoice in ax 2012, following steps:

  • Create a free text invoice template
  • Assign it to one or multiple customers
  • Generate recurring invoice

Then, AR > Periodic > Post recurring invoice, but I don't post recurring free text invoice which was setup when I run Generate recurring invoice and error:

I don't know why is that ??

Partner Source Access for New Organization

Hi All,

I want my new organization to have a Partner Source access. I couldn't find relevant document for having it.

Till now I have registered for MPN, and got a MPN ID for organization.

Now I cant find any link or doc for registering my Organization to have an access for Partner Source.


Confusion

1. Do i need to register for the Microsoft Action Pack, does this includes access to Partner Source.

2. Second, was for having Competency as we are new we don't people who are certified. (We require the training material for making the employees certified, for that we need Partner Source)

How to auto export reports in Excel and send through Email?

Hi,

I have a current requirement at my company , that the Senior Management would like to receive monthly financial reports from Management Reporter directly to their mailbox in Excel/PDF format.

Can anyone tell me if they faced a similar requirement and how they achieved it.

I have been doing research from my end, but the only options available is to generate periodic links to Report Viewer in Browser (but not excel) or share them to the document library in SharePoint Portal. However, the management is not fond of such and are stuck to the excel auto mail requirement.

We are currently using Management Reporter in conjunction with AX 2012.

Purchase requisition edit by approver

Hi, 

I am using AX 2012 - with regards to purchase requisition workflows, a requirement is for the approver to be able to edit the vendor on the purchase requisition lines prior to approving. However, it seems that the approver cannot edit the purchase requisition lines and must therefore turn to the "request a change" option which routes the purchase requisition line back to the submitter to edit.

Is there any configuration related to allowing the approver to edit the purchase requisition lines directly please?

How to send mails from AX 2012 without Outlook ? (MAPI to SMTP)

Hi,

I would like to know how to send recurring monthly reports from AX 2012 to users directly through Email , without using outlook.

I have setup SMTP through GMAIL and it is working fine for Email broadcasting, but as Report mailing feature uses the MAPI configuration by default, it is invoking Outlook program and is not helping the requirement. Even if outlook would send mails from background, it would have been not an issue, but the mails always need confirmation from the user end to proceed, which beats the purpose of Auto Notifications.

Can anyone suggest/advice how to achieve this and if it's possible to convert the default MAPI configuration to switch to SMTP settings? If yes, please help me in the process.
